‘It is twice as strong’ – Ibrahimovic and Boban disagree in on-air exchange over Milan squad

There was another on-air disagreement between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Zvonimir Boban after AC Milan’s Champions League exit last night.
As a reminder, earlier in the season Boban questioned what Zlatan’s role at Milan is, given that he returned as a Senior Advisor which is not a position that holds a set list of responsibilities like a CEO or a sporting director and therefore gives a broad but also quite vague scope.
Prior to Milan’s first Champions League game of the season, Ibrahimovic and Boban shared quite a spiky exchange while the Swede was being interviewed by Sky. Since then, Boban has heavily criticised the management for the running of the club.
At the end of Milan-Feyenoord, the pair came face-to-face again on Sky. The Croatian, from the Sky studios, asked the Swede for a comparison between the current Milan and the one that won the Scudetto, with MilanNews relaying the exchange.
Ibrahimovic: “I retired, I’m 42 years old… I played in that team and I can say that this team today has more chances of winning: it is twice as strong. We won with that team but this one is better in terms of quality.”
Boban: “It needs balance. They had an extraordinary midfield: Bennacer, Kessie and Tonali… There was Saelemaekers who gave balance, Theo and Leao were different. And it was dismantled. Ibra knew the team, which is why I find it curious [that he says that this Milan is twice as strong].
“Gimenez and Walker would have been top, without all these other signings. That team won the Scudetto and reached the Champions League semi-finals.”
