Davide Frattesi is in pole position to start for Inter Milan in tomorrow’s high-stakes UEFA Champions League clash against Monaco.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi could skip the upcoming Milan derby.
Simone Inzaghi handed the Italian midfielder only his fifth Serie A start this season against Lecce last weekend.
It was an utter success. Indeed, Davide Frattesi broke the deadlock to set the tone for a landslide 4-0 victory at Via del Mare.
Therefore, he’s the frontrunner to start in the midfield on Wednesday night.
However, Inter can’t count on Calhanoglu and Acerbi.
Frattesi’s involvement hinges on Nicolo Barella’s fitness.
Indeed, the ex-Cagliari starlet felt pain after the match against Lecce and could start on the bench as a precaution.

Meanwhile, Calhanoglu and Acerbi are not in contention for the matchday squad.
The latter has been out of action since early November.
Despite Inter’s hopes of having him back in early January, the recovery process has taken longer than expected.
As for Calhanoglu, he sustained an injury during the Supercoppa Italiana final.
Therefore, he hasn’t been at Inzaghi’s disposal in Inter’s last five competitive games.
As things stand, he won’t return for the derby.
