Pep Guardiola has insisted upon his belief that Omar Marmoush had a “really good” Manchester City debut in the 3-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday evening.

The Egyptian forward is fresh into the Etihad Stadium outfit off the back of a stellar start to the ongoing season with Eintracht Frankfurt, firmly establishing himself as one of the best goalscoring contributors within the game so far this campaign.

After 15 goals and 10 assists during the opening months of this season’s Bundesliga, Manchester City moved at speed to ensure that they secured the services of the 25-year-old for the remainder of the season and into their future.

While personal terms were no problem, and Marmoush showed a clear desire to make a deal happen, conversations and talks with Eintracht Frankfurt took more patience, and a deal in the region of €75 million was confirmed last week.

Now, having finally made his debut for Pep Guardiola’s side as part of a 3-1 comeback win over Chelsea in the Premier League, the former Werder Bremen and VfL Stuttgart forward has left Manchester City fans desperate for more following an impressive showing.

Speaking to broadcasters after the contest at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, manager Pep Guardiola said of the Egyptian’s debut for the reigning Premier League champions, “Really good.

“That connection with other players and incredible movement. It’s the first game and he deals with the change and makes unbelievable movements.”

Pep Guardiola continued on the now-former Eintracht Frankfurt forward, “He made incredible movements that players in the middle could not see.

“I think [Ilkay] Gundo, and [Mateo] Kova, and Bernie [Silva], they should be more clever in the movements with the high line that Chelsea had. But it’s a question of time knowing each other.

“At the end, we don’t know the movements of him, the movement he likes, it needs time. But he played 75 minutes good, cannot play Wednesday [against Club Brugge], it’s important to make a debut and win.”

Omar Marmoush’s next opportunity to excel for Manchester City in competitive action will come against non-other than Arsenal in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
