Liverpool’s long-term goalkeeping strategy has taken a decisive turn with the official confirmation that Giorgi Mamardashvili will join the club on July 1, following a pre-arranged £29 million deal struck with Valencia last August. The 23-year-old Georgian international has quietly built a reputation in La Liga and arrives at Anfield as one of Europe’s most promising young stoppers.
Despite Valencia enduring a turbulent campaign, their shot-stopper remained a bright light. James Pearce reports for The Athletic that “he has been pivotal in a recent upturn that has seen Valencia go eight games unbeaten, conceding just five in their last seven matches.” That kind of consistency and composure under pressure makes Mamardashvili an exciting acquisition.
He is not coming in to challenge Alisson Becker just yet—but the roadmap is clear.

As speculation circled regarding Saudi Pro League interest last summer, Liverpool fans may have briefly worried about the future of their Brazilian No 1. But Alisson’s camp was quick to pour cold water on those rumours. Goalkeeping coach Claudio Taffarel told ESPN Brazil:
“He wants to continue living this story. I saw that this wave of Saudi Arabia came with great opportunities, very high offers, but he always says: ‘I want to continue this story because I owe a lot to them here, and I want to continue this life here’.”

Alisson remains central to Liverpool’s plans, with a contract that runs until at least 2026, with the club holding an option to extend by a further year. His recent performances during the title run-in, especially after returning from injury, showed exactly why Liverpool remain so committed to him.
Caoimhin Kelleher, meanwhile, looks set to leave this summer. The Republic of Ireland international has long made clear his ambition to become a first-choice goalkeeper elsewhere. Pearce writes, “Liverpool rejected a bid from Nottingham Forest in January and Bournemouth are among his suitors.”
Valued around £30 million, Kelleher is expected to fetch a significant fee. His contributions this season have been vital, stepping in with maturity and confidence whenever Alisson was sidelined. Internally, Liverpool staff see him as one of the unsung heroes of their Premier League-winning campaign.

It’s bittersweet for supporters, as Kelleher has become a well-liked figure both on and off the pitch, but few can begrudge him the opportunity to spread his wings.
Attention now turns to Vitezslav Jaros, who made his Premier League debut in October against Crystal Palace. Liverpool must decide whether to send him out on loan or keep him as third-choice behind Alisson and Mamardashvili. The 23-year-old has impressed in training and brief appearances, and his future could hinge on how pre-season unfolds.
With Liverpool now balancing short-term silverware goals under Arne Slot with long-term squad development, the Jaros decision will be a litmus test of the club’s confidence in their next generation.

As Liverpool fans, we’ve learned to spot the signs of smart planning—and this is it.
Mamardashvili’s arrival is the kind of forward-thinking business that successful clubs get right. At 6’6”, he’s an imposing figure with quick reflexes and the composure you want in big matches. More importantly, his signing doesn’t just plug a gap—it builds for the future while respecting the present.
Alisson staying? That’s huge. You don’t win titles without a top-class goalkeeper, and we all saw how much his presence was missed during those 10 games he sat out. Taffarel’s quote was reassuring—it’s clear Alisson feels this club as much as we do. That kind of emotional buy-in is rare in modern football.
As for Kelleher, we owe him massive gratitude. He’s been there during cup runs, stepped up in pressure games, and never looked out of place. While it hurts to see him go, he deserves his shot at being No 1. We’ll be cheering him wherever he ends up—unless it’s against us, of course!
And don’t sleep on Jaros. If the club decides he’s ready, he could quietly become a very important figure next season, especially with so many competitions demanding squad depth.
With Arne Slot having just delivered a title in his debut season, Liverpool’s foundation looks stronger than ever. From front to back, this team is preparing to dominate—not just for a season, but for a generation.
