Thiago Motta confirms he won’t resign after Juventus’ 3-0 loss against Fiorentina: ‘It would be too easy.’
The Bianconeri suffered the second consecutive loss at the Stadio Franchi on Sunday. The Serie A giants have conceded seven goals in the last two games, scoring none, and Bologna’s win over Lazio pushed Juventus outside the top four.
Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli said Motta would not be sacked, and the Old Lady’s boss said he would not resign.
“It would be too easy to do that, and I don’t like easy things,” Motta told DAZN via TMW.
“We need to win; we have to find a way to get the points we need to achieve our goal, which is to finish in the top four of the league.”
Thiago Motta went on to explain Juventus’ second consecutive loss.
“It’s a bit like a continuation of the last match, the same story,” he said.
“We start well, but at the first difficulty, just like against Atalanta, we fail to react. We need to improve. Today, we are not strong in either phase of the game. We have to get these guys back on track. I think we showed a different side before these last two matches, and our reaction was always very good.”
Juventus are now fifth in the Serie A table, one point below Bologna. They have already been eliminated from the Coppa Italia and the Champions League.
Motta signed a three-year contract with Juventus last summer, so his deal in Turin runs out in June 2027.
Juventus will return to the pitch on March 29 after the international break, hosting Genoa at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
