La Liga have issued a statement welcoming the decision made by the Commercial Court No. 10 in Barcelona, which rejected the Blaugrana’s request to register Dani Olmo via a precautionary measure until June 30, 2025.
Following the hearing on Monday, the judge gave his ruling earlier today and it went against Barça, who were hoping to receive approval to register the Spaniard through a precautionary measure like they did with Gavi back in 2023.
As far as La Liga is concerned, they have issued a statement supporting the decision as they believe “none of the necessary conditions for adopting the precautionary measure are met.”
Recapping the conclusions of Judge Ignacio Fernandez de Senespleda’s ruling, La Liga stated:
“The ruling defends the full legality of the decision to deny the registration of a player based on the application of article 77 of the Budget Preparation Rules of La Liga (NEP), under which, in the case of a long-term injury, clubs may replace a player with another.

“La Liga has made a motivated interpretation of article 77 of the NEP. More importantly, it is the same interpretation that has been applied to all the other teams in the competition. It is even the same interpretation that was applied to FC Barcelona in July 2024 in the cases of Araujo and Inigo Martinez.”
The ruling also emphasised that: “The purpose of authorising the excess spending is to ensure that a long-term injury does not diminish the competition of the team, not to allow long-term injuries to facilitate the registration of players whose salaries exceed the limit, as FC Barcelona seeks to do.”
Additionally, La Liga reminded that, as the ruling itself acknowledges, the decision not to register Olmo had already been made by the La Liga Budget Validation Body.
Furthermore it was subsequently confirmed three times: by the Economic Control Committee and the Social Committee of La Liga Resources, as well as by the UEFA Licensing Second Instance Committee of the RFEF.”
For all these reasons, “La Liga celebrates that, in the face of requests for precautionary measures of this nature, the application of a provision of the NEP that has been uniformly applied to all clubs has not been excluded, thus preventing serious alteration of the competitive balance of the rules.”
