La Liga outfit Mallorca are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen, as per reports.

Eriksen bid farewell to the Old Trafford crowd after the full-time whistle against Aston Villa over the weekend, as he is set to leave United upon the expiration of his contract in June.

The 33-year-old is one of the three senior players, along with Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof, to be released by United this summer.

Signed on a free transfer by Erik ten Hag in 2022, the ex-Brentford midfielder immediately established himself as a regular under the Dutchman, owing to his technical ability in possession.

Ruben Amorim’s side are crying out for a midfielder of his profile but the United head coach could only use him sparingly during the recently concluded Premier League season due to his physical decline.

However, it seems a La Liga club believe Eriksen still has the athleticism to make a difference in Spanish football.

Mallorca want Christian Eriksen

According to Fichajes, Mallorca have set their sights on the Danish midfielder.

Mallorca, who finished the season in 10th place, admire what he could potentially offer to them on the pitch and also feel his arrival would strengthen their dressing room.

The Spanish outlet claim the Balearic Islands outfit have “begun exploring this deal cautiously” as they are aware it is not going to be easy to convince Eriksen to join their project considering his impressive CV.

There’s a belief, however, that a more central role and an opportunity to play in La Liga could give Eriksen something to think about.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Eriksen could return to Ajax in his bid to kickstart his coaching career.

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank is also understood to be open to bringing the Dane back to Brentford.
