The sky is the limit for the most promising Barcelona youngsters who continue to climb the ranks within the club. Unfortunately, while not every young talent will end up having the same level of success, certain anomalies take things to a whole new level. Even at the moment, Barcelona already possesses several of these so-called anomalies.
One of them is, without a shadow of a doubt, Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old Barcelona wonderkid continues to go from strength to strength this season as he has already given some top-tier displays against the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and more.
His consistency and quality remain unmatched, not just for other youngsters but even for other top players. As a result of this, he ended up winning the latest edition of the Kopa Trophy at the 2024 edition of the France Football Ballon d’Or awards ceremony in Paris.
However, Yamal was competing for this award against the likes of several other promising youngsters. One of those nominees also happened to be Pau Cubarsi, yet another one of the Barcelona anomalies that was hinted at earlier.
While Cubarsi did not win this time, he was more than happy to see Yamal be the one to lift it. However, it seems that the Barcelona forward has already predicted the winner of next year’s edition of the award, as showcased in a recent Instagram video posted by the official FC Barcelona account:
“Cubarsi, Next year you will win it… Pau Cubarsi!”
In a lighthearted moment of jokes and chuckles, Cubarsi came up to Yamal to congratulate him on winning the award, and the 17-year-old Barcelona winger instead handed his prize to his fellow La Masia teammate and said that he will be the one to lift it next year, a comment which made Cubarsi smile and jokingly lift the prize up.
Fortunately, Yamal’s prediction could very well end up coming true. Not just because of the fact that Barcelona are performing wonderfully so far this season under the leadership of Hansi Flick, but also because of the mere fact that Cubarsi will remain eligible for the award for a few years to come given that he is also still just 17 years old.
