Lazio have presented an offer for Maurizio Sarri through his representatives and are now waiting for the manager’s response.
The Biancocelesti have decided to part ways with Marco Baroni after a solitary campaign that began on a positive note but ended up being a major letdown after failing to qualify for Europe. Several profiles have been mentioned as potential replacements, but over the past few days, Sarri has emerged as the most plausible candidate.
The Italian capital side is thus determined to bring back the 66-year-old who has been on the shelf since resigning from his post at Formello in March 2024 after losing control of the locker room. The Lazio directors held a first meeting with the coach’s representatives on Thursday night, and while they have yet to reach a full agreement, they remain optimistic about it.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio have presented Sarri with a three-year offer (or two-year contract plus an option for a third) with a salary of €2.5 million per season. The proposal also includes a €500,000 bonus in case of Europa League qualification, and €1 million for reaching the Champions League.
The club is now waiting for Sarri to either accept the offer and make his return official or turn it down, so they can turn their attention towards alternative options.
In the meantime, La Lazio Siamo Noi claims that the locker-room senators would be happy to reunite with the former Napoli and Chelsea boss, in particular Mattia Zaccagni, Alessio Romagnoli, and Ivan Provedel, in addition to Matteo Geundouzi and Nicolo Rovella, who joined the club based on Sarri’s request.
The Tuscan manager allegedly had his issues with the likes of Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto and Felipe Anderson, who played a major role in his decision to leave, but these players left Lazio last summer.
