Southampton to Win (2/1 with Paddy Power)

It may seem outrageous to want to back a team that sits at the bottom of the league, having collected just 11 points all season, but that’s exactly what I’m doing here. Both Saints and Leicester will be playing Championship football, but Southampton already seem to be more prepared for life in the second tier, and surprisingly, they have scored in six of their last seven. On the road, they have found the net in seven of their previous eight, and also won at Ipswich in February.

The mood at Leicester on the other hand, is not good at all. With Ruud van Nistelrooy still at the helm, the club can’t move forward. They haven’t scored in 10 consecutive home league outings and the mood could turn toxic should they go behind here.

Kamaldeen Sulemana 2+ Shots on Target (6/1 with 10bet)

Southampton may have lacked goals this season, but it’s certainly not due to a lack of effort—they’ve racked up 320 shots over 34 games. One player consistently looking to make something happen is Kamaldeen Sulemana.

The Ghanaian winger has shown real intent lately, registering at least two shots in each of his last four outings. He’s managed to test the keeper in three of those matches, including games against tough opponents like Aston Villa and Tottenham. With Leicester struggling defensively, there’s a strong case for backing Sulemana to get off at least a couple of attempts once again.

How both teams go into Leicester vs Southampton

To say it’s been a disappointing season for these two sides would be wildly understating it. Leicester and Southampton have already had their relegations back to the Championship confirmed, picking up just six wins and 29 points combined. For context, that would be enough to see them 18th and still seven points from safety with just five games to go, while their 51 goals scored combined is bettered by 10 Premier League teams.

Leicester confirmed their relegation with a 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool two weeks ago, before suffering a 3-0 loss to Wolves, meaning they’ve taken just one point from their last 11 Premier League matches. A 2-2 draw against Brighton the only game they’ve scored in during that time.

Saints, meanwhile, conceded late against Fulham last time out and have now picked up just two points in their last ten. Southampton still need to pick up another point to avoid equalling the record for the lowest points tally in the Premier League.

Leicester team news

Odsonne Edouard should be back in action for this match, but Abdul Fatawu remains sidelined for Leicester.

Southampton team news

Albert Gronbaek has a slim chance of returning in time for this match, while Ryan Fraser and Charlie Taylor should both be back in action in advance.

Leicester vs Southampton head-to-head

As mentioned, Leicester have won their last three matches against Southampton, including 3-2 away back in October. That accounts for 25% of the Foxes’ Premier League wins this season, as well as 16.66% of their points.
