It was an evening to forget for the Celts on Tuesday, as they were defeated 7-1 in Dortmund on a night that captain Callum McGregor described as ‘sobering’.

That result, Brendan Rodgers’ side’s first defeat of the season, was in stark contrast to the Hoops’ start to the campaign, which has seen the champions of Scotland win every domestic match so far.

Speaking to the media today (Friday) ahead this weekend’s match away to Ross County, defender Liam Scales said that despite a bruising night in the Champions League, the Celts have recovered and are ready to bounce back when they kick off in Dingwall at lunchtime on Sunday.

“We’ve started the season so well in the league,” he said. “We’re unbeaten domestically and doing everything right.

“That makes it easier to park what happened the other night and move on to the next game.

“We’ve played together enough, we train together every day, we know what our ability is and how high it can be when we’re on it.

“Confidence doesn’t come in to it, it’s more about getting to the levels that we want to be at.”

The Hoops, who have started their defence of the title and their pursuit of a fourth consecutive league title in blistering form, haven’t conceded a single league goal since the start of the season.This run of six consecutive league clean sheets has already equalled a club record which was set 118 years ago, with Sunday’s match providing an opportunity to create another piece of Celtic history.

On the subject of shut-outs, Liam Scales added: “I want to be part of a defence that keeps clean sheets and keeps winning games.

“We know that if we can have a good foundation and keep a clean sheet, we’re more than likely going to score goals with the attacking quality we have and that’s going to win us games.

“It gives us something else to aim for, to keep going on this run and go as long as we can.”
