Paris Saint-Germain defeated Olympique Lyonnais 3-2 last weekend at Groupama Stadium, with Ousmane Dembélé continuing his impressive form that will be needed next week against Liverpool.

The match started with a goalless first half, but both teams found their rhythm after the break, setting up a thrilling finish. PSG struck twice in six minutes to take a 2-0 lead, including a goal from Dembélé.

In the 59th minute, Dembélé entered the box, opened his foot, and curled a shot past Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes for a stunning goal that gave PSG a two-goal advantage.

Though Lyon mounted a comeback, with Achraf Hakimi scoring a brace to secure the win, Dembélé remained a key contributor throughout the match. Moreover, this past contest was a good way for the Frenchman to build momentum.

If PSG are going to advance past Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16, they’ll need Dembélé to be a significant factor. Nonetheless, with his current form, Vitinha stated what he’s seeing from his teammate, which could be a warning to the Reds.

“It’s hard to find an explanation, even he doesn’t have one, I think,” Vitinha told France 3 (h/t Le10Sport). “He scored and then gained confidence. He’s always had this ability; it doesn’t come out of nowhere. We’re happy for him, he helps the team a lot, and we hope it lasts for a long time.”

The first leg will be on March 4 at the Parc des Princes and the return leg will be on March 11 at Anfield. PSG will need to take advantage of the home ground and the young squad must be prepared to handle the pressure on the road if they want to advance.
