Lyon reject bid from Galatasaray for Ainsley Maitland-Niles | OneFootball

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Lyon have rejected a bid from Galatasaray to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles (27). The Turkish club are looking to sign a right-back before the transfer window closes in Turkey on Tuesday 11th February 2025.

Galatasaray have previously made bids for two right-backs in Ligue 1 since the end of the French transfer window. The Turkish Super League club have seen approaches refused by Lens and OL for Przemysław Frankowski and Clinton Mata as they look to bolster their defensive options. Both of these bids were rejected.

Second time unlucky

Despite already seeing an approach rejected by Lyon for Clinton Mata, the Turkish champions have decided to tempt the Ligue 1 club’s resolve with a second bid for a different player. Les Gones actively refused to entertain any offers for the England international defender due to the inability to replace Maitland-Niles because of a transfer ban and the closure of the window.
