Major Chelsea team news clue from training – Maresca must update us tomorrow

After a really bleak period in terms of results, injuries and morale, there’s great hope that a 4-0 smashing of Southampton last Tuesday followed by a week of training together will have done the trick to restore some confidence to Chelsea and potentially end their extended wobble.
The bulk of the players still out aren’t expected back until the end of the international break later this month, but a clue from training shows one could return sooner than some of his teammates.
Benoit Badiashile has a really poor injury record since joining Chelsea, and in a way is lucky that Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia’s even more significant struggles to get fit have distracted from his issues. But the Frenchman is back from his latest problem, as evidenced by photos from Chelsea training this week.

Badiashile appeared to be playing in the 7 a side game at Cobham this week, and while he may not be ready to play on Thursday, there’s surely a good chance that he sees some minutes over the next 3 games. If we build a decent lead against Copenhagen this week, a return leg at home would provide a great platform for him to pick up some minutes.
He was expected back a whole month ago, and like so many of his injuries so far this one has seemed to drag on for longer than was initially thought.
It’s been a week and a half since we heard from Enzo Maresca in a press conference, so we’re looking forward to tomorrow’s pre-Conference League session to see what he says about Badiashile’s status and the potential return dates for our other missing players.
