After a run of just one victory in 13 matches, Pep Guardiola’s side have now won their last three games, including an 8-0 thrashing of Salford in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Ederson was fit to start in that match, while Jeremy Doku scored twice and assisted another two goals in his first appearance since Boxing Day.

There are still absentees for Guardiola to contend with, as John Stones and Ruben Dias missed out again. Oscar Bobb continues his recovery from a fractured leg and Rodri is a long-term absentee.

John Stones

John Stones has not played since coming off at half-time in the defeat to Aston Villa before Christmas.

Updates on his fitness have been vague since then, with Guardiola confirming only that the centre-back was unavailable for the FA Cup clash against Salford.

With a quick turnaround before the trip to Brentford in midweek, it looks unlikely that Stones will be fit to face the Bees.

Potential return date: Unknown

Ruben Dias

A muscle injury picked up in the Manchester derby in December has kept Ruben Dias on the sidelines.

It was stated at the time that he would miss around a month of action, suggesting he would return in mid-January, but that could be pushed back to the end of the month.

Speaking ahead of the Salford match, Guardiola said of Dias’ fitness: “Not yet. He feels better but not ready. I don’t know when.”

Potential return date: Late January

Oscar Bobb

There is positive news for Oscar Bobb, as he builds towards making a first appearance of the season.

The 21-year-old suffered a serious leg injury on the eve of the new season but has now returned to training. City are expected to be cautious with his return to first-team action.

Guardiola said last week: “[He is] training with the team partially. That’s good news for us. It was a fractured bone.

“Now that is healed, he’s fine but good news is he’s back.”

Potential return date: February 2025

Rodri

Rodri has insisted he still has hopes of returning before the end of the season.

The Ballon d’Or winner suffered an ACL injury against Arsenal in September, which was expected to rule him out for the rest of the campaign.

"My target is to come back this season,” Rodri said.

“I don't give up on this season, [but] I don't want to make any mistakes. My target is six or seven months.

"I am doing much better than I thought. I am enjoying the rest, if it possible to say it that way”

Potential return date: Summer 2025
