Gonzalez has been considered a doubt after being forced off on his debut against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

The Spanish midfielder, who signed for City at the end of the January transfer window, started the 2-1 victory but was subbed off after taking a knock just before Orient’s opening goal.

He was spotted training with his team-mates ahead of the visit of the La Liga champions, however, in a boost for Guardiola’s side.

A host of other City stars were also in training ahead of the game. Winger Jeremy Doku was involved ahead of the game having been absent with injury of late.

He has endured a frustrating season having missed significant game time and has been out for the last five games, but could be back involved in the squad against Madrid.

Defender Nathan Ake is another who has suffered injury issues this season and also missed out against Leyton Orient with a muscle injury, but like Doku, trained with the team against Real Madrid.

They joined goalkeeper Ederson who could also return to action from injury, with Stefan Ortega having played in his place of late.

Rodri and Oscar Bobb remain out for Guardiola’s side, however, with longer term injuries.

Spanish midfielder Rodri is expected to be out for the rest of the season and opening up on his spell out, recently said: “No, I don’t deal good with that,” when asked how he has found watching it from the stands.

“You’re more nervous, you cannot control what’s going on. But yes, I try to support my team from the outside, give them my vision and help them.”
