Pep Guardiola has Man City moving in the right direction for Champions League football
Man City will look to strengthen their grip on a Champions League spot on Friday night as they face Wolves at the Etihad in a battle between the two form teams in the Premier League.
Wolves have won six in a row and are a changed team under Vitor Pereira, and with only Newcastle and champions Liverpool winning more games since he took charge at Molineux it threatens to be a decent game here despite City's dominance of the fixture.
City have won eight of nine home league games against Wolves, with Pep Guardiola's side winning three of the last four by three goals or more, but Wolves will be a threat here and winning their last four away games in the league means they'll arrive full of confidence.
Their fixture list has been pretty kind though, and Wolves are yet to win a point against the current top five in the league, so you have to fancy Man City who are just getting their act together down the home stretch.
Even so, Wolves have a goal threat, and City have only kept two clean sheets in their last 10 home games. With the visitors having a free swing at this, with relegation worries long gone, then they should give a good account of themselves - scoring a goal at least if nothing else.
There's obviously plenty of attacking talent on show - and Wolves have two of them in Matheus Cunha having five goals and two assists in his last seven and Jorgen Strand Larsen scoring six in six in the Premier League.
Cunha is 16/5 and Larsen 7/2 to score at the Etihad, but a route I like better is the 7/2 on Cunha to have 2+ shots on target.
The Brazilian had three in his all-action display against Leicester last game to make it eight in the last 12 games with multiple shots on target.
City can still be got at and Cunha is on top of his game right now.
For the hosts, Omar Marmoush is unloading shots better than anyone, with at least three in his last six games - resulting in three games with 2+ shots on target.
He's had seven games with 2+ shots on target since joining Man City and is 1/1 to have another against Wolves.
Even better though is to double him up with Cunha for a nicely priced Bet Builder double.
The Top 5 Finish door was firmly opened for Manchester City last night when Nottingham Forest suffered a surprise 0-2 home defeat to Brentford. It means City have matters in their own hands, though with four games to go for the five clubs chasing those three remaining top five places there'll be plenty of twists and turns to come.
City fans will be hoping that one of those twists or turns doesn't come tonight when Pep Guardiola's men host red hot Wolves at the Etihad.
Man City go into the game unbeaten in eight in all competitions, including winning their last four, while Wolves are the Premier League's most in-form team, racking up six straight wins. True, Victor Pereira's men are now safe and effectively have nothing to play for but I still think we're in for a cracking game this evening.
January signing Omar Marmoush is almost certain to start for the Citizens with Erling Haaland still out injured, while for Wolves their star man Matheus Cunha should be a certain starter also. And if that's the case, then we have a very interesting Shots on Target Match Up on our hands.
And the reason I say it's fascinating is because there's very little to choose between the two players on season-long stats, yet Marmoush is the 8/13 favourite here with Cunha out at a very appealing 11/4.
True, City have home advantage and are strong favourites to win the game, but it's impossible to ignore the current form of Cunha and he simply has to be the bet at that price.
For the record, the Wolves man has averaged 1.38 shots on target per game this season, which is just marginally better than Marmoush's 1.33 SOT per game. But in recent games Cunha has been sensational.
The Wolves star attacker has registered at least one shot on target in each of his last 10 Premier League games, and even more impressive is that in those 10 games he's managed 24 shots on target, taking his 10-game form for SOT to 2.4 per game. In addition, he's registered at least one shot on target in every single Premier League away game bar one since the beginning of September!
Marmoush is no slouch of course and loves to get his shots away also, but in his last two Premier League games he failed to register a shot on target at home to Aston Villa and managed just one against lowly Everton, and in the FA Cup on Sunday he again registered just one shot on target against Nottm Forest.
