Manchester United and Chelsea could miss out on a chance to sign Victor Osimhen this summer.

The transfer saga is taking a dramatic twist, with Turkish news outlet Milliyet claiming Galatasaray are throwing their hat in the ring for the Nigerian.

The 26-year-old was loaned to the Turkish champions from Napoli at the start of the season and has been nothing short of sensational.

Osimhen has bagged 33 goals and eight assists in 37 appearances, setting a personal career-best in terms of goals in a single season.

Just two more goals would see him become the highest-scoring foreign player in a single campaign in Gala’s history.

Osimhen is also leading the Super Lig goal-scoring chart with 24 goals in 27 league games and is on course to win the Golden Boot in his debut season.

His form has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe. Man United have initiated contact with the player’s camp, while Chelsea and Barcelona are also in the mix.

However, none of them have made a concrete offer, and Gala are looking to pounce by keeping him on a permanent deal.

Backed by sponsorship commitments and internal club funding initiatives, they are prepared to pay Napoli €66 million – having already covered a €9m loan fee earlier in the season.

Osimhen has a €75m release clause in his contract. Gala are hoping this structure gives them a legitimate chance at signing him.

They’re ready to get the deal done quickly, but will not act on their interest until they get the green light from Osimhen.

Gala are trying to tempt Osimhen with the prospect of Champions League football. They’ve also told him they won’t stand in his way if he decides to leave the club the following year.

Osimhen has a strong desire to play in the Premier League, so it will be intriguing to see how this transfer saga plays out.
