Manchester United’s kit has been announced for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening.
The Red Devils have enjoyed an unbeaten run to the final but have also experienced numerous highs and lows on their journey.
Ruben Amorim’s side were moments from exiting the competition at the quarter final stage against Olympique Lyonnais. Nonetheless, the side dug deep and mounted a scarcely believable comeback from 2-4 down to win 5-4 in the second half of extra time.
United arrive to Bilbao on the back of a 7-1 aggregate win versus Athletic Club in the last round.
The club’s official website has now announced what kit the players will take to the field in, as they go in search of Ruben Amorim’s first trophy as manager of the club.
The Red Devils have been designated as the away team for the final, as they were in 2017 when they were victorious against AFC Ajax.
The club’s site claims, “we can reveal Ruben Amorim’s side are due to wear our red shirts, with black shorts and black socks.”
Andre Onana, the likely starting keeper for the final, will wear all green.
United last played in this combination in the 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad in San Sebastian in March. The only league match in which United have played in this kit was the 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.
Nonetheless, United frequently wear black shorts with red shirts away from home in the Premier League as most teams wear white shorts at home.
Owing to Spurs being the designated home team, they will play in their home skip of a white shirt, white shorts and socks of the same colour. Therefore, United will need to change their usual white shorts and socks not to colour clash with their opponents for the final.
The Red Devils also wore this combination in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City last season, so will hope the kit change will bring the same positive vibes.
United’s biggest game of the season will kick off at 8pm UK time on Wednesday night.
