Etihad Stadium officials have finalised yet another loan spell away from Manchester City for Kayky after struggles in Dutch football so far this season.

This will be the fourth consecutive move away from Manchester City since joining the club from Fluminense in a big-money deal first reported throughout global media in April 2021, costing €10 million with another €15 million in variables.

While it was initially believed that the transfer would go through in January 2022, Kayky joined Manchester City immediately, while Fluminense retained a percentage of any future sale and add-ons.

Since arriving at the club and making his senior debut in both the FA Cup and Premier League, Kayky has spent time on loan at Pacos de Ferreira, Bahia, and Sparta Rotterdam, while the most-recent move to the Dutch side has now been cut short.

As first reported by Brazilian outlet Globo, and translated and relayed by Sport Witness, a new loan agreement has been struck between Manchester City, Bahia, and Kayky until the end of the 2025 Brazilian season, which runs until December.

As for the salary aspect for the Brazilian winger, the report explains that Manchester City will cover the full package during his second temporary stay at Bahia, with the player already in Salvador.

However, a follow-up statement confirming the deal would go against the reported length of deal, instead pointing out that Kayky will be in South America until the summer.

Manchester City confirmed earlier this week, “Kayky has joined Brazilian side Bahia on loan until the end of the season. The winger spent the first half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam, featuring seven times in all competitions.

“(…) He recovered ahead of the current campaign and gained further experience in Rotterdam, but will now return to his native Brazil for a second stint at City Football Group sister club, Bahia. Everyone at City would like to wish Kayky the best on his loan spell at Bahia.”

It remains to be seen what Manchester City have planned for Kayky longer-term, continuing to show faith in a player that many believe is already past the point of holding any opportunity to break into Pep Guardiola’s side.

A review of the player’s future is likely to be held by incoming Sporting Director, Hugo Viana at the end of Kayky’s stay with Bahia, and Manchester City are unlikely to rule out the possibility of a permanent move away for the young forward.
