Manchester City return to Premier League action this weekend. The international break is now over and domestic football returns. Pep Guardiola’s side face Wolves at Molineux on Sunday. On paper, City should win comfortably. But as we saw last season when City were beaten at Molineux, the champions should know the danger posed by Gary O’Neill’s side.

To say Wolves have started this season poorly is an understatement. Gary O’Neill’s side bottom of the Premier League table after 7 matches. They have only picked up 1 point in those games. Wolves are yet to fire a shot this season. For as tough as they were to beat, especially at home, last season, this campaign has been a different story.

Defensively, Wolves have struggled. They have conceded 21 goals in their opening 7 games. Their defensive frailties have cost them at key times in almost every game they have played. It is something that Manchester City will look to take advantage of on Sunday. Wolves have scored 9 goals in their opening 7 games. On their day they do have a threat up front. But that does take everything to click on the day for Gary O’Neill’s side to prosper.

But despite Wolves lowly position on the Premier League table Manchester City can’t roll into Molineux and expect to win. If there is any complacency amongst the City squad then an upset could be on the cards. Pep Guardiola’s side were bitten by Wolves at Molineux last campaign and will be eager to avoid the same fact on Sunday. If they bring their best against Gary O’Neill’s side City should account for Wolves. If they don’t they could pay a price.
