All attention over the past day or so has been on the potential players Manchester City can sign to bolster their midfield this summer. But other positions in Pep Guardiola’s squad need to be strengthened. One of those positions is right-back. Now, a new report indicates that Flamengo right-back Wesley has agreed to join Manchester City. Now, a deal needs to be agreed between the two clubs that would see Wesley arrive at the Etihad this summer.
Coluna do Fla has reported via X that Wesley has approved a move to Manchester City. The Brazilian right-back has given the green light to be a part of Manchester City’s project, it is further revealed. Furthermore, the Coluna do Fla report indicates that City are prepared to offer €35 million to sign Wesley. Flamengo are willing to hold out for €40 million to sell their prized asset. Naveen Ullal has relayed the Coluna do Fla report for Sport Witness, which can be seen at the link provided.
It seems that Manchester City’s summer transfer plans are beginning to come together. They appear to be on the front foot in terms of strengthening their midfield. Now, they also seem intent on quickly bolstering their stocks at right-back. It is a pressing need to be filled in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Kyle Walker seems destined to complete a permanent move to AC Milan. It’s fair to say that he has played his last game at Manchester City. Rico Lewis looks set to become a midfielder in time. Matheus Nunes could be kept as a squad player in Pep Guardiola’s squad. But he doesn’t look to be good enough to the number one option at right-back. Wesley is that player and he’d fill a void in the Manchester City squad. He is good defensively, and strong in a duel. Wesley is also a threat going forward and can play as an inverted or an overlapping full-back. His game looks to be suited to playing in Manchester City’s style of play.
Manchester City’s reported move for Wesley seems to be taking shape. It’s now just one of a host of transfer stories to monitor over the coming weeks.
