Manchester City XI vs Southampton – Predicted lineup and team news

Manchester City make the trip to Southampton this afternoon as the Citizens chase Champions League qualification.
Pep Guardiola’s side have found form following their mid-season struggles, winning five consecutive games in all competitions. Champions League qualification is now in City’s hands and the Blues can move level on points with second-placed Arsenal with a win on the South Coast. City also have an FA Cup final to look forward to, with Guardiola’s team set to face Crystal Palace at Wembley next weekend.
Southampton’s fate is sealed with the Saints set for the second-tier. A season of struggle saw Southampton relegated with a record seven games to spare. Currently on 11 points, Southampton need one more point to avoid equalling Derby County’s record for the worst-ever Premier League season.
Erling Haaland is set to feature for the first time since March this afternoon. The Norwegian returned as an unused substitute against Wolves last Friday and Guardiola has confirmed the club’s leading scorer is available at St Mary’s. City will hope to get Haaland up to speed ahead of next weekend’s FA Cup final and upcoming Club World Cup commitments.
Rodri, Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake remain out for City, though each have returned to training in various capacities. John Stones is still sidelined with a thigh issue.
Manchester City predicted XI: Ederson; Nunes, Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol; Gundogan, Kovacic; Doku, De Bruyne, Marmoush; Haaland.
Southampton host Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday 10th May 2025. Kick-off at St. Mary’s Stadium is 15:00 BST.
Southampton vs Manchester City won’t be available to watch live in the United Kingdom.
