Manchester United are considering a move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, as per recent claims from SPORT.
The Ukrainian shot-stopper has spent the majority of his time in Spain playing a backup role, waiting patiently for an opportunity that has been hard to come by.
Despite the difficult situation, Lunin made a significant decision last September by extending his contract with Real Madrid until 2030.
His renewal was somewhat surprising, given that he was fully aware of the tough competition in front of him.
So far this season, he has barely featured, but whenever he has been given the chance, he has proven that he is capable of handling the responsibility of being the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
His solid performances have not gone unnoticed, and several top clubs are keeping an eye on him as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping options. One of the most interested teams appears to be Manchester United.
The Premier League side is considering Lunin as a potential replacement for Andre Onana. The transfer seems feasible, mainly due to the strong relationship between Jorge Mendes, Lunin’s agent, and the English club.

At 26 years old, the Ukrainian still has many years ahead of him in professional football.
His potential departure from Madrid would depend on two key factors: whether he decides to push for an exit and the kind of financial offer Manchester United are willing to put forward.
His current market value is around €20 million, an amount that Real Madrid could accept if they choose to facilitate his transfer.
Lunin has been a key figure in Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey campaign this season, starting in cup matches and playing an important role in keeping the team competitive.
His contribution was particularly crucial in the first-leg victory against Real Sociedad, which put Madrid on the brink of reaching the final.
However, despite his strong performances, Carlo Ancelotti has yet to fully guarantee him a place in cup matches moving forward.
If his situation does not improve, Lunin could have every reason to reconsider his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
