The striker has been tipped to follow Ruben Amorim to Old Trafford
Days after new manager Ruben Amorim started work, United sent Sergio Souza - considered an expert in Scandinavian talent - to watch Gyokeres play, and score, for Sweden in Stockholm on Saturday night.
Souza confirmed his attendance at the game via his Instagram account.
The Sporting Lisbon striker did not take long to add to his international tally, running only a through ball from Newcastle's Alexander Isak to fire low past former United keeper Martin Dubravka in the Serbia goal within the opening three minutes.

Gyokeres is a wanted man across Europe, and United are understood to be among a host of potential suitors.
However the striker has confirmed he is not looking to leave Sporting during the season. He told Fotbollskanalen when asked about a possible January move: "It's not something I think about, nor something I give any importance to. It's just rumours, nothing concrete.
" I want to finish the season at Sporting, I'm enjoying my time there. I don't feel stressed about making a change in the future. We'll see when the time comes."
Asked directly about following his former Sporting coach Amorim to Old Trafford, Gyokeres said: "[Amorim] probably already has strikers there... It's fun but not something I attach any importance to because it's talk and nothing concrete."
Asked about Amorim's departure from Sporting, Gyokeres added: “It's very sad that he's left, but of course we understand his decision.
“He has of course meant a lot [to me] considering that he gave me that chance and that he made me develop so much. Now we look forward to working with the new coach.”
