Lazio boss Marco Baroni only had words of praise for Pedro who settled the big Serie A showdown against AC Milan on Sunday night.
The Biancocelesti had taken the lead in the first half through their captain Mattia Zaccagni, but despite a flurry of chances to kill off the contest, they allowed the 10-man Rossoneri back in in the 84th minute. Nevertheless, Lazio were determined to break their San Siro taboo and eventually did so in dramatic fashion.

Gustav Isakesn was tripped inside the box by Maignan while charging off his line, so the referee awarded the Aquile penalty after being summoned by VAR for on-field review. While everyone in the stadium held their breath, Pedro remained as cold as ice, sending the goalkeeper in the wrong direction.
After the contest, Pedro revealed he was confident in himself, and Baroni felt the same. The Lazio manager lauded the ‘extraordinary’ veteran in his post-match interview (via La Lazio Siamo Noi).
When you take a penalty you know you can make a mistake. But it was only right that Pedro took it as he’s extraordinary, when he plays, when he trains, even when he doesn’t play. I was confident he’d score. In training, he never misses, but he says that penalties shouldn’t be missed in an important stadium and in front of big crowds.
The manager also reserved praise for his winger Gustav Isaksen who is showing great signs of improvement.
Isaksen has incredible potential. I saw it in him from the start but he just had to bring it out in serenity and conviction. He is mentally evolving and becoming a decisive player. In the past, he used to do good things, but the attackers are judged based on goals and assists. Even Zaccagni.
On a separate note, Adam Marusic left the field after the interval due to a knock to the knee following a collision with Theo Hernandez. Nevertheless, Baroni isn’t worried about the right-back’s condition.
I think it’s just a bruise. It was a significant blow to the knee but only resulted in a bruise I believe.
