Maresca could have bigger problem than expected on his hands as Chelsea star misses training again

Malo Gusto is set to miss Chelsea’s game against Copenhagen after he didn’t take part in Wednesday’s open training session.
The Blues take on the Danes in the second leg of their last 16 tie in the Conference League and have a 2-1 advantage from the first leg.
Chelsea are in a difficult position because they have a huge game against Arsenal on Sunday, and don’t have the options available to rotate as much as Maresca might like.
The Blues are overwhelming favourites to lift the trophy in May and are the only side left in the competition with a 100% record having won all seven of their games.
Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer and Reece James both took part in training having been ill over the past few days, but one player was absent.
Journalist Bobby Vincent took to X.com to confirm that Gusto didn’t take part in Wednesday’s session, meaning he’s highly unlikely to feature on Thursday.

Gusto started the first leg last week and had to come off in the first half with what looked like an ankle injury, although Maresca expected him to be available for the Leicester game.
The 21-year-old then missed the win against the Foxes and is now set to miss another game, which indicates his injury could be worse than we are being lead to believe.
Gusto was one of Chelsea’s best performers last season, although he’s struggled to hit the same heights under Maresca, but the Italian insisted he’s happy with his form.

The Frenchman has had difficulties in adapting to Maresca’s system, but given how young he is it shouldn’t be a worry and he’s clearly a player who has plenty of ability.
In Gusto’s absence James could return at right back, but it’s more likely one of Trevoh Chalobah or Josh Acheampong lines up there on Thursday night.
