Mathys Tel would still be keen to join Manchester United this summer after his loan with Tottenham Hotspur comes to an end, a report has claimed.
United were one of many suitors chasing the signature of 19-year-old Tel when he decided to leave Bayern late in the winter transfer window but, after several reports claimed Old Trafford was his preferred destination, watched on as negotiations between the two clubs broke down.
Negotiations between United and Bayern centred around a deal which did not include the option for a permanent transfer, and the Red Devils ultimately rejected what they saw as an expensive agreement to train another club's player for six months.
Tel eventually joined Spurs on a deal which does include a permanent transfer clause worth around £50m and manager Ange Postecoglou has already hinted at an agreement being reached to keep the French forward at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beyond this season.
However, according to Christian Falk, Tel still has eyes for United and would be interested in making the move this summer if the opportunity presented itself.
United are likely to be in pursuit of at least one new forward this summer and hope to raise sufficient funds through the sales of loanees Marcus Rashford and Antony, which would free up the space to lure Tel over to Manchester.
Alongside United, Tel has also not given up on a future at Bayern. He was at pains to leave the Bundesliga leaders in January and could be tempted to return if offered a concrete route to the first team, with finding regular minutes his top priority at this point in his young career.
