Mike Tullberg’s tenure in charge as interim Borussia Dortmund head coach got off to a positive start after going 2-0 up against Werder Bremen on Saturday afternoon with 10-men. But Marvin Ducksch secured a point for the visitors at the Westfalenstadion, fighting back from 2-0 down.
Although it wasn’t pretty on the eye, Dortmund fought for their first point of 2025 after coming into the game on the back of four successive defeats which resulted in the sacking of Nuri Sahin, following their 2-1 loss against Bologna in the Champions League.
With no successor to Sahin lined up, as of yet, Lars Ricken confirmed that Tullberg would remain in charge of Borussia Dortmund for the Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday night.
When asked in the mixed zone whether or not Tullberg would remain interim head coach for the remainder of the season, Ricken added: “We are initially assuming Donetsk,” before stating that BVB are “taking the necessary time” to find a successor to Sahin.
