MN: Roma considering move for Pioli – the irony behind a potential move

Stefano Pioli has regularly been linked with a move to AS Roma since his time at AC Milan came to a stop, and this summer, the two may finally come together.
We go back to the 2023/24 season, where Milan were having a ‘failure’ of a season, despite confirming Champions League football quite early. However, humiliation against Inter and in Europe to an Italian rival was enough to see Stefano Pioli depart.
In fact, it was the loss against Roma in the Europa League, against a coach far less experienced, that ended his time with the Rossoneri. As stated in a recent interview, the Italian knew after that game that his time was done with Milan, and in the end, it was.
Now, Milan News reports that the coach is being considered for the Roma job once again, which would bring a certain irony – the club that ended his time in Italy last time being the one to start it once again after a disappointing spell in Saudi Arabia.
Claudio Ranieri has also hinted that Massimiliano Allegri could be in the mix for the Giallorossi job, which would be a frustration for the Diavolo, considering their seemingly inbound sporting director is eyeing him as well.
