The time has seemingly come for Maghnes Akliouche (23) to leave formative club AS Monaco, that is at least what his manager, Adi Hütter, suggested during a press conference on Thursday.

Amid interest from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain last summer, Akliouche opted to stay at Monaco, even extending his deal until 2028. However, the Principality club have fostered a model of selling on their best and brightest when the time is right, and that time has come for Akliouche, who, after his most consistent season, is in the conversation for a first call-up to the France national team.

Manchester City and PSG have retained their interest in the forward, as per L’Équipe. Hütter has now given the strongest suggestion yet that the Frenchman will leave Monaco at the end of the season. “He is already playing at a top club. We are all happy with what he has done over the last two years. He made a big, big step in the right direction.I can imagine that the club is receiving some offers from him. He is 23, and I don’t see many players with the same skills as Akliouche. When you ask me, he is ready to make the next step. We will see what happens with Maghnes,” he said.

Akliouche changes representatives

The Monaco manager added, “We are proud that we brought a young player from the academy to become a performance player at the club and then to maybe become a top top player at a top top club.”

Akliouche himself recently addressed his future and was coy amid a change of representatives. “I am not thinking about [my future]I am focused on the next six matches. It is perhaps at the end of the season that the question (about my future) about my future will be asked, I think,” he said.
