Further details on Borussia Dortmund’s pursuit of a Marcus Rashford loan deal have emerged. Patrick Berger reports that talks with Manchester United focus around a six-month loan arrangement that will cost die Schwarzgelben between €8m and €10m loan fees and salary commitments.
Berger does not specify how much would be due to the Red Devils in a flat loan fee or how much of the 60-times-capped international’s salary the German club is willing to pay. It is widely assumed that Rashford will have to take a pay cut in order to move to the Bundesliga club.
Talks are ongoing and despite all the hurdles – not to mention a general consensus that a deal may not necessarily be a good fit for either side – a deal could still go through. Executives at both clubs maintain good working relations.
Dortmund were able to successfully broker a similar arrangement for Jadon Sancho last winter, obtaining their former attacker on loan with a large purchase obligation. It stands to reason that Manchester United will also seek to build a purchase clause into the loan this time.
