With just three matchdays remaining, Borussia Dortmund sit in sixth place domestically, a position that would qualify them for the Europa Conference League. Leipzig is in fifth, just one point ahead of BVB, and Freiburg occupy fourth, three points ahead of Dortmund.

The Black and Yellows also have a chasing pack of teams all eagerly clawing at the Top Six. Mainz, Werder Bremen, and Borussia Mönchengladbach are positioned in seventh, eighth, and ninth place, respectively, and trail Dortmund by one, two, and four points. There’s no room for error if Dortmund hopes to qualify for Europe next season.

We can speculate plenty, but Opta’s Analyst Computer has offered insight into Borussia Dortmund’s chances at qualifying for each of Europe’s club competitions. Back in February, while Nuri Sahin was still in charge, Dortmund were given a meager 5.1% chance of finishing in the Top Four. Yet Niko Kovač seems to have given his team a boost, as the Opta computer now gives BVB a 25.68% chance of reaching the Champions League, while the same computer has handed Leipzig a 17.61% chance of UCL qualification.

Since Frankfurt have been handed a 98.62% chance of qualifying, Dortmund’s biggest rival will be SC Freiburg, with a 50.72% chance of UCL qualification.

Even if Borussia Dortmund fall short of Champions League qualification, the Opta computer suggests they’re more likely to head for one of Europe’s lower-level competitions. Europa League qualification stands at 34.66%, while Conference League is slightly lower, at 31.54%.

The good news is that the AI suggests Dortmund's recent run of form isn't a fluke, and they're more than likely to finish in the Top Six. These final three matches will determine BVB's European fate next season. With three more wins and a little bit of luck, Borussia Dortmund could yet salvage a Champions League place.
