Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has reportedly ruled out Randal Kolo Muani as the type of striker he’s seeking for his team. Instead, a new report suggests Enrique has his sights set on another forward who fits his vision, but there’s an issue in an attempt to secure him.

According to Fichajes, Enrique views Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as a key target. The Swedish striker’s speed, technical skill, and finishing ability have caught the Spanish coach’s attention, aligning well with the attacking system he aims to establish at PSG.

At the same time, Barcelona is also keeping tabs on Isak. As reported by TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, the Catalan club has sent scouts to monitor the forward, including during the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal.

Isak has been described as “unstoppable” and has emerged as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski, who could leave Barcelona this summer. President Joan Laporta has long considered Erling Haaland the ideal replacement but appears to be exploring other options.

Isak has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 15 goals and delivering four assists in 22 matches across all competitions. Despite growing interest from top European clubs, Newcastle remains determined to hold onto their star striker.

Football Insider, citing sources, reports that Newcastle are stepping up their efforts to convince Isak to sign a contract extension amid interest from other Premier League clubs.

The report notes that Newcastle’s current form, with the team competing for silverware and aiming for Champions League qualification, could boost their chances of retaining him.

Meanwhile, CaughtOffside recently reported that Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring Isak, though neither club is willing to meet Newcastle’s £115 million asking price for the 24-year-old.

Isak has been in fine form during the 2024-25 season, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. Despite the increasing interest, Newcastle is determined to keep their star forward.

Additionally, former Newcastle star Alan Shearer believes Isak’s value could exceed £150 million due to his impressive form. Shearer suggests that Chelsea might have an edge over Arsenal in the race to sign the forward, but he also advises the Blues to proceed with caution, as the price could continue to rise.
