Some very interesting odds on Premier League top four (and other possibilities) for the 2024/25 season where Newcastle United are concerned, with bookies taking stock after Sunday’s win over Nottingham Forest.

That massive victory achieved for NUFC in this eleventh PL round of matches.

The Premier League now head into the November international break.

Newcastle United doing so after a run of three wins against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, Arsenal and Forest in the Premier League.

The bookies and punters reacting to how things now stand in the Premier League table (see below), as well of course, how they are now seeing the underlying strengths of the various teams and squads.

Listed below are the general Premier League odds now available from the various bookies for the 2024/25 season (in brackets are what the odds were after the opening round of PL games):

Win the Premier League:

5/4 (13/2) Liverpool

9/4 (11/8) Man City

4/1 (9/5) Arsenal

20/1 (40/1) Chelsea

80/1 (33/1) Tottenham

150/1 (40/1 Newcastle United

200/1 (66/1) Aston Villa

200/1 (28/1) Man U

250/1 (1,000/1) Nottingham Forest

250/1 (200/1) Brighton

So Newcastle United now rated equal sixth most likely.

At the very top, Liverpool now clear favourites.

This is how the Premier League table looks today (Monday 11 November 2024):

Premier League relegation:

1/5 (1/1) Southampton

4/6 (10/11) Ipswich

5/6 (1/2) Leicester

7/4 (7/2) Wolves

5/2 (5/2) Everton

7/2 (10/1) Palace

12/1 (12/1) Man City

12/1 (20/1) West Ham

16/1 (7/1) Brentford

66/1 (11/2) Fulham

66/1 (3/1) Forest

66/1 (7/1) Bournemouth

150/1 (40/1) Chelsea

300/1 (40/1) Brighton

500/1 (250/1) Man U

500/1 (200/1) Villa

750/1 (250/1) Tottenham

1,000/1 (250/1) Newcastle United

2,000/1 (2,000/1) Liverpool

2,000/1 (2,000/1) Arsenal

Eddie Howe’s team now seen as third least likely to go down in the 2024/25 season.

If you are wondering about the Man City 12/1 odds of relegation, this is due to the possibility (probability?) of severe punishment from the 115 Premier League charges they face, which could include amongst other sanctions, points deduction or even relegation. That hearing now reported to be ongoing.

Finish Premier League top four:

1/16 (1/2) Liverpool

1/9 (1/9) Arsenal

2/9 (1/7) Man City

4/5 (9/4) Chelsea

3/1 (9/4) Tottenham

5/1 (9/4) Newcastle United

11/2 (7/2) Villa

15/2 (2/1) Man U

9/1 (11/1) Brighton

33/1 (100/1) Forest

40/1 (100/1) Bournemouth

50/1 (66/1) Fulham

This is where, like me, I guess you will be giving most focus.

Can Newcastle United bounce back into the Premier League top four and get Champions League football?

Well the bookies now have NUFC sixth most likely, after that win over Forest.

Recent defeats had seen United drift out to far higher odds, despite generally decent performances. Now a question of can Eddie Howe’s side build on finally getting the wins they deserve, against Chelsea in the cup, the Gunners in the Premier League, plus Forest at the City Ground.

As the table shows above, Newcastle United only one point off the Premier League top four, indeed one point off top three.

Eddie Howe’s side having in their opening eleven matches already faced Man City, Arsenal, Forest, Fulham, Brighton and Chelsea, six of the seven teams currently above them.
