Newcastle, UK – Football fans across the region are invited to be part of something truly special as the inaugural Tyne-Wear Remembrance Match takes place on Friday, 8th November 2024 at 7:00 PM.

The match offers a unique opportunity to come together for a night of football, camaraderie, and reflection as both clubs honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country. With all proceeds benefiting Launchpad, a charity supporting homeless veterans, the event will combine sporting passion with a deeply meaningful cause.

Mick Warke, Chairman of the Newcastle United Armed Forces Supporters Club, shared his excitement for the event: “This match is more than just a game—it’s a powerful tribute to the men and women who have served our country. We’re proud to bring the Tyne-Wear football community together to honour their memory while raising funds for Launchpad, a charity that does incredible work supporting our veterans.”

Warke continued, “The Tyne-Wear Remembrance Match is a chance for us all to reflect on the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces, and at the same time, come together through the sport we love. It’s going to be a night filled with pride, passion, and unity, and we hope as many people as possible will join us to show their support.”

David Bygate-Pittiglio, Chairman of Sunderland AFC Armed Forces and Veterans Supporters Association added:

“I echo Mick’s words above and what an occasion this will be. Not only do the players get to put on a shirt representing their respective club but they get to do it with their peers raising money for a Charity that is designed to help homeless Armed Forces Veterans. The North East is well known for it’s passionate supporters and we hope that they will come out to support this great cause”.
