Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will hate the latest comments on one new goalkeeper that the club have signed who will be joining this summer.

The news comes after Chelsea were defeated by Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, losing to a first half headed goal by Mikel Merino.

EXCLUSIVE! Results of Cole Palmer’s injury scan have come back, and there’s good and bad news!

The game was obviously not without its drama and Chelsea fans saw what they expect to see every time Robert Sanchez starts, and that is him making a silly mistake and giving away a goal. This time he got lucky, but Maresca continued to back his goalkeeper at the full time whistle once again.

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber was seen mocking Maresca on the side lines in an interaction that has annoyed Blues fans even more.

All in all it wasn’t a good performance from Chelsea and it lacked intensity, desire, energy, and any kind of real belief that they could get something from the game.

We are now into an international break and a chance for Chelsea’s players and Maresca to have a bit of a reset before our next game against Tottenham!

Penders not as composed

Mike Penders signs for Chelsea.

Goalkeeper Mike Penders will join Chelsea from Genk this summer, and he’s been hyped up a lot. However, with Enzo Maresca being quoted saying that if Filip Jorgensen plays it long then he will be subbed off, I am pretty sure he wont enjoy reading these comments below…. Yikes….

As per The Athletic, Malmo’s academy goalkeeping coach Matt Pyzdrowski has said on Mike Penders:

🗣 “The two goalkeepers he reminds me of are Courtois and Ederson. He’s kind of a mix of the two.

“He’s not as composed with the ball at his feet as Ederson yet, but what I really like about Penders is his ability to go long.

“He’s able to stretch the field just like Ederson and start counter-attacks from nothing, which is a huge asset. The way he hits the ball is fast, direct, but also very accurate.

“On his line and with balls around his area, he’s really good. He’s a big guy but he’s very quick to pounce when there’s a free ball in and around his box. He uses his body and has really good timing in those situations.”

“He’s a project. If there are Chelsea fans out there hoping he arrives in the summer and competes for the No 1 spot, it’s too early. It would also be a risk to throw him into that situation. That’s not to say a 19-year-old can’t handle it.

“If he [Penders] gets game time and works on his deficiencies, it’s not hard to see him being one of the best goalkeepers in the world in a few years.”
