AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao has opted to name an unchanged rearguard for tonight’s game against Roma, but there are alterations further upfield.
A spot in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia is at stake for Milan and Roma this evening and a potential derby awaits for both, given that Inter-Lazio is the other quarter-final on this side of the bracket.
Milan have four players unavailable for the game: Emerson Royal, Alessandro Florenzi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Warren Bondo. The latter arrived on deadline day but has a slight physical issue which will prevent his debut being tonight.
The main headlines from the team news concern the midfield and attack. Firstly, Youssouf Fofana is back from serving a suspension against Inter and starts again, flanked by Yunus Musah and Tijjani Reijnders.
Up front Tammy Abraham leads the line against his parent club with Christian Pulisic to his right, but Rafael Leao is not 100% and will start on the bench, with Alex Jimenez taking his place. The January signings Santiago Gimenez, Joao Felix and Riccardo Sottil are options off the bench.
Conceicao has chosen to name the same back four that did so well for most of the derby meaning Kyle Walker, Fikayo Tomori, Strahinja Pavlovic and Theo Hernandez start ahead of Mike Maignan.
Official Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Walker, Tomori, Pavlovic, Theo Hernandez; Musah, Fofana, Reijnders; Pulisic, Abraham, Jimenez.
Bench: Sportiello, Torriani, Gimenez, Jovic, Leao, Chukwueze, Thiaw, Bartesaghi, Terracciano, Gabbia, Camarda, Joao Felix, Sottil.
Official Roma XI (3-5-2): Svilar; Celik, Hummels, Ndicka; Saelemaekers, Koné, Paredes, Pisilli, Angelino; Dybala, Shomurodov.
Bench: De Marzi, Gollini, Rensch, Cristante, Pellegrini, Dovbyk, Abdulhamid, Soule, Nelsson, Gourna Douath, Salah-Eddine, Baldanzi, Sangare, El Shaarawy.
