Celtic lost the Glasgow Derby against the Rangers at the weekend in their own backyard. While the result is not expected to have an impact on the league title race, with the Hoops still 13 points ahead of their crosstown rivals, it is one that the supporters will want to forget as soon as possible nonetheless.

Of course, one cannot overlook the fact that Celtic were without two key starters on the day. Callum McGregor and Auston Trusty both missed the game due to injury problems.

Now, there is a further update on the situation. And it does not make for good reading if you are a Celtic fan.

As reported by US Soccer's website, Max Arfsten, Brian Gutierrez and Jack McGlynn have been added to the USMNT roster for the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League Finals. They replace Antonee Robinson, Johnny Cardoso and Trusty, who have withdrawn due to injuries.

Celtic signed Trusty in the summer from Sheffield United. While he did endure a rocky start to life at Parkhead, he has slowly but surely established himself as the regular starter for the Hoops in the heart of defence alongside his American national team teammate, Cameron Carter-Vickers.

So, Trusty's injury and withdrawal will come as worrying news for Celtic fans. One can only hope that he has made the decision as a precaution in order to avoid somehow making the situation worse and that he will be back available in the near future.

It is worth mentioning that Liam Scales has been dealing with an injury as well. In their absence, Maik Nawrocki did end up getting a start against the Rangers at the weekend and he actually ended up doing a great job as well. Will he get more playing time moving forward?
