Olympique de Marseille have confirmed their first signing of 2025 with the arrival of free agent Luiz Felipe Ramos.

The Italian centre-back had most recently been at the Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, a club he joined in 2023 from Real Betis for a €22 million fee. However, Felipe was free to join Marseille after he terminated his contract with the club.

The defender who came to prominence for his performances in Serie A in the Lazio shirt arrives as Marseille look to bolster Roberto De Zerbi’s options. Felipe has shown that he is capable of playing both as a centre-back but also as a right-sided option.

His announcement comes as Marseille look to provide summer signing Lilian Brassier with an exit route. The Frenchman who joined from Stade Brestois ahead of this season has struggled to settle in the south of France and there are reports that the club wishes to sell.
