Torino have officially announced the signing of Italy U21 talent Cesare Casadei on a permanent signing from Premier League side Chelsea, bringing his two-and-a-half year spell in England to an end.
Torino have paid a reported fee of €15m to secure the 22-year-old’s services, as well as a significant chunk of his future sell-on fee. Some outlets claim the sell-on is 15%, while others claim it is as high as 25%.
The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a long term contract until the summer of 2029.
He will wear the no.22 shirt for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.
Casadei’s move has brought a long back and forth between Torino and Lazio, who had both been vying for his signature during the January transfer window.
Casadei becomes Torino’s second signing of the January transfer window, following the arrival of former Napoli midfielder Eljif Elmas on loan from RB Leipzig.
Casadei has spent the last two and a half years on Chelsea’s books, initially arriving for a fee of around €15m plus bonuses from Inter. He spent the second half of the 2022-23 campaign on loan in the Championship with Reading before spending the following season with Leicester, helping Enzo Maresca on his way to promotion before being recalled by Chelsea in January.
He was then reunited with Maresca at Chelsea in the summer of 2024, but the young Italian struggled to nail down a position in the first team plans, and has not featured in the Premier League at all this campaign.
