RB Leipzig have signed PSG attacking midfielder Xavi Simons (21) in a reported €80m deal, both clubs have announced. The Dutch midfielder joined the Red Bull-owned Bundesliga side on loan from Les Parisiens eighteen months ago after a breakout season at Eredivisie side PSV. Simons’ loan was extended until June 2025. Now, PSG have agreed to part ways with Simons now considering his market value remains high and that the former Barcelona youth product does not fit in Luis Enrique’s plans. Leipzig and PSG have reportedly struck an agreement over a €50m transfer fee that could rise to €80m in taking into account performance-related add-ons.
In the last eighteen months, Simons established himself as one of the best young attacking midfielders in the Bundesliga. In 60 games played with Leipzig, the Dutch international registered 15 goals and 19 assists. He is now tied with Red Bull Leipzig over a contract set to expire in June 2027. “I have always emphasized that I feel very comfortable in Leipzig and feel honored by the great appreciation I found in the club”, said Xavi.
