Eintracht Frankfurt’s manager has come out defiantly insisting that he will be able to count on Omar Marmoush in the club’s next Bundesliga outing.

Manchester City are continuing to make the versatile Egyptian forward their next number one priority in the ongoing January transfer window, having seemingly finalised a move for a new centre-back.

That concerns the future of Lens and Uzbekistan’s Abdukodir Khusanov, who is expected to make a £33 million switch to the Premier League champions in the coming days, providing the 20-year-old sees a work permit approved ahead of signing all the necessary paperwork.

That negotiation has proven to be relatively straight forward, particularly given the French side’s clear need to raise funds this month and in-turn, the player’s desire to link-up with Ppe Guardiola’s squad this month.

But while Marmoush shares the same feeling about his own future, his club are standing much firmer on a valuation and seemingly have little intent to sell too easily at the midway stage of what is proving to be a very successful season for them.

As confirmed by Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmöller, Omar Marmoush will continue to start for the club in their Bundesliga meeting with SC Freiburg on Tuesday night, despite the ongoing uncertainty over his future.

Toppmöller told reporters during his pre-match press conference this week, “Omar (Marmoush) is making a good impression again today, like all the boys. We are pleased that he will be in the starting eleven again tomorrow.”

The latest line of reporting on the transfer links to Manchester City have come courtesy of Sky Germany and Florian Plettenberg, whose update on Monday afternoon insisted that there is still no agreement with the Premier League champions, and that negotiations remain ongoing.

Despite some reports claiming a lower price tag could permit an exit for the 25-year-old, Plettenberg continues to insist that Eintracht Frankfurt are standing firm on their demand of an €80 million fixed.

Pep Guardiola appeared to indicate during his own press conference on Monday afternoon that the attacking positions were not a priority for the club in the transfer window, which perhaps suggests that Marmoush is being viewed as an attacking midfielder for the immediate term.

Speaking to reporters from the City Football Academy ahead of the Premier League clash with Brentford on Tuesday night, Pep Guardiola said of Manchester City’s transfer priorities, “From the beginning of the season, it was at the back and in the middle, yeah.”

The City boss continued, “The positions up-front we are more or less OK, but at the back all season we’ve struggled a lot.”

The reigning English top-flight champions are also believed to be pursuing another two defensive deals this month, with an intent to sign AIK Freetong’s out-on-loan centre-back Juma Bah as well as Palmeiras’ Vitor Reis.
