Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has provided his take on the possibility of locking horns with reigning tournament holders Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The final round of fixtures in the newly-formatted league phase in the Champions League were of course played to completion last night.
The aforementioned Man City and Real Madrid, meanwhile, triumphed over Club Brugge and Stade Brestois respectively.
Owing to as much, the two heavyweights of European football have booked a place in the Champions League playoffs for the Last-16, where they could well be pitted against one another in Friday’s draw.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s much-needed victory on the continent, Pep Guardiola, in turn, was drawn on the prospect of renewing his long-time rivalry with Spanish champions Real.
And the tactician went on to admit that, whether drawn against Los Blancos or German heavyweights Bayern Munich, a tough test awaits Manchester City:
“Real Madrid or Bayern; one is the King of the competition, the other one is maybe the second or third King of the competition..”
