Manchester United must bolster their squad to make a serious push for a strong second half of the 2024/25 season.
Chelsea are eyeing an astonishing move for Alejandro Garnacho.
The Red Devils have also been linked with a potential swap deal that could see them land Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.
According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, a permanent transfer for Nkunku is ‘highly unlikely’.
United are instead exploring the possibility of bringing him to Old Trafford on loan.
This suggests that the two clubs are treating the potential transfers of Garnacho and Nkunku as separate deals.
United head coach Ruben Amorim stopped short of ruling out Garnacho’s exit before his side’s 2-1 victory over Rangers on Thursday.
His comments have only fueled growing speculation that the talented attacker is on the verge of making a move to the London outfit.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has shown little faith in Nkunku.
The 27-year-old has featured in 18 Premier League matches this campaign but started only three of them.
He has been an unused substitute over the last three league games.
Described as a ‘world-class‘ star, Nkunku possesses the versatility to play across the forward line.
He could prove to be a valuable addition to the United squad, especially with the impending departures of Antony and Marcus Rashford.
The £42 million-rated forward could form a dynamic partnership with Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 role.
However, United will make a big blunder if they sign him as a replacement for Garnacho.
The Argentina international is still very young and has the potential to become a future superstar.
Selling Garnacho to Chelsea while signing Nkunku on loan for the remainder of the season would amount to two terrible moves for United.
