There is still a lot to play for. Aston Villa may not be able to earn silverware after their last match forced them out of the FA Cup following their defeat to Crystal Palace. Even so, as has always been the case, for Unai Emery, the continued focus is on the next match. Learning from past mistakes and continuing to make positive strides is the emphasis for the Spaniard, regardless of which competition Villa are set to play in.
Once a Villan himself, Peter Crouch visited Bodymoor as part of a TNT Sports segment. A clip of his return to the training grounds was shared on the network's social media page, Football on TNT Sports. Speaking with the gaffer and Unai Emery, it was clear that the squad is facing the remainder of the campaign with a positive outlook.
Rogers mentioned, naturally, being disappointed following the defeat to Palace. He did, however, insist that Villa remain steadfast in their yearning to make the most of the season and secure the current EPL campaign with four successive wins.
Speaking with Emery, Crouch mentioned how clear the manager's passion was to detect. And while the two joked about the former striker perhaps trotting on for set pieces, the mutual respect was very evident between the two.
Many debate the importance of making Champions League or even if it wouldn't serve the club better to make a run in a lower European competition. Hearing Emery speak with Crouch, it's clear that he would dismiss that point out of hand. His further remarks are somewhat more telling in the Spaniard's overall approach. Emery explained to Crouch what his aim is while managing Villa:
"The Premier League is the most important league, the most difficult. We are not content to be in the top five."
This shows the infectious mindset that the AVFC boss has brought to the club. Since his arrival, the club is at the point where even the biggest skeptics are forced to take notice of what is taking place at Villa. This continued focus and winner's approach is a hallmark of the Spaniard. Listening to him discuss his vision with Crouch, it's clear that an ultimate triumph in the form of a trophy isn't too far from happening.
