Premier League predictions: Gameweek 26 | OneFootball

Some weekends promise more than others throughout the Premier League season and Gameweek 26 offers some tantalising battles among the division's big-hitters.

Both ends of the table could look drastically different come Monday morning, with Liverpool and Arsenal still duking it out for the title and the newly-promoted trio of Southampton, Ipswich Town and Leicester City brawling with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Premier League survival.

There are plenty of tales likely to unfold in between the top four and the drop zone, with struggling Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all seeking confidence-boosting victories on the road.

Here are 90min's predictions for Gameweek 26.

There will be a dose of Friday night football to kick off Gameweek 26 as the floundering Leicester City host Brentford. The Foxes have lost nine of their last ten Premier League matches under Ruud van Nistelrooy and have suffered five straight home defeats without scoring. Hopes of survival appear increasingly slim with each passing week for the 2015/16 champions, who currently sit in 19th.

Brentford had struggled on the road during the first half of the campaign but have now won three on the bounce on their travels. Victories over Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United have helped Thomas Frank's side climb the rankings.

There are seven matches to tickle our fancy on Saturday, starting with Manchester United and their trip to Everton in the lunchtime slot. Defeat to Spurs last weekend has left the underachieving Red Devils in 15th place and closer to the relegation zone than the top six. Former United boss David Moyes could pile more misery on Ruben Amorim, with the Toffees having been in exceptional form since the Scotsman's return.

Arsenal will have been buoyed by table toppers Liverpool dropping points over the past ten days and they can cut the gap to just five points by beating West Ham United on Saturday. Injuries continue to wreak havoc on the Gunners' forward line but a rock solid defence offers them a platform on which to build. The Hammers tasted victory at the Emirates Stadium last season but have conceded 11 in their last two clashes with their fellow Londoners.

Another all-London battle will be staged during the blackout kick-offs when Crystal Palace make the trip to Fulham. The Cottagers triumphed over third-placed Nottingham Forest last weekend and have now won their last three in all competitions. The Eagles had been in similarly encouraging form but were beaten by the resurgent Everton last Saturday.

Tottenham put domestic cup exits behind them last weekend with a much-needed victory over Man Utd and will be aiming to build some momentum against Ipswich Town. Spurs have welcomed some key players back from injury but will be wary of the Tractor Boys after suffering a limp home defeat to Kieran McKenna's outfit back in November.

Two south coast sides will lock horns when Brighton & Hove Albion face bottom of the pack Southampton. The Seagulls will be expecting victory at St Mary's Stadium, while their fellow seasiders Bournemouth will also be strong favourites for a weekend clash with relegation-threatened Wolves.

The day's late kick-off promises drama as Chelsea visit Aston Villa. The Blues will be aiming to take advantage of their hosts' energy-sapping draw with Liverpool on Wednesday evening but head into the encounter in disappointing form. Successive defeats to Brighton mean Enzo Maresca's side haven't won away from home in the Premier League since early December - the pressure is mounting on the Italian's shoulders as a result.

Preceding the blockbuster fixture of the weekend is Newcastle United vs Nottingham Forest in what will be a crucial clash in the battle for Champions League qualification. Sunday's visitors are currently sat in third and have an excellent opportunity to capitalise on tricky fixtures for chasers Manchester City and Chelsea. The Magpies are also on their tail and can move three points behind the Midlands side with a home victory.

Both will cast a keen eye towards the gargantuan battle between Man City and Liverpool in the final outing of Gameweek 26. The Cityzens were unceremoniously dumped out of Europe midweek at Real Madrid and are far from guaranteed to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Reds obviously harbour greater ambitions and a statement victory at the Etihad Stadium would edge them closer to collecting the title from Pep Guardiola's reigning champions.
