Speaking after PSG’s win, head coach Luis Enrique talked about Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League after a heartbreaking 6-7 defeat to Inter.

What Enrique said about Barça’s UCL exit

“Barça played and scored 6 goals. If you told someone they would score 6 goals in the semi-finals and be eliminated, they wouldn’t believe you,” Enrique said about Barcelona’s loss to Inter.

Enrique went on to praise the way Barcelona have played football this season, even admitting that the Catalans deserved to play in the final.

“I think Barcelona has proven with its style the type of football that is played in Barcelona, and throughout history I think they have been distinguished by this, and we have been distinguished by this,” he said.

They could have been in the final, and they deserved to be in the final. Yesterday’s result was a bit strange, honestly,“ he added.

Enrique, though, also admitted that he wouldn’t have liked to face Barcelona in the final, given the way they have performed in the competition so far.

“But if I have to be honest, playing against Barcelona in the Champions League final would have been the worst thing for me,” he said.

“If we weren’t in such a good state, I would have been happy for Barcelona to qualify and win the tournament, but as long as we are the ones who are in the final now, we will try to win it,” he added.

Finally, Enrique added how PSG are not liked at Barcelona, implying that his statements were purely on sporting terms.

“I know that Paris Saint-Germain doesn’t get much sympathy in Barcelona, but that’s life, and I’m doing my job,” he concluded.
