According to L’Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain have submitted a proposal to the local authorities for a spectacular parade culminating in front of the Arc de Triomphe – if they are crowned European champions on May 31st. Five years on from the heartbreak of Lisbon – a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the 2020 final, played behind closed doors amid the COVID-19 pandemic – PSG are determined to mark their long-awaited continental breakthrough with a celebration of appropriate magnitudePer the current plans, the team would not descend the full length of the Champs-Élysées from Place de la Concorde but instead start from the mid-section of the avenue and move upward, avoiding the lower part of the road where the Élysée Palace and surrounding presidential gardens are located – an area deemed off-limits.However, the logistical ambition of the club is facing stiff resistance from the Préfecture de Police, who are already preparing for a high-risk evening in the capital on the night of the final. “If we pre-install barricades and there’s chaos on the Champs that night, what do we do then?” a police source reportedly told L’Équipe.

The matter is expected to be addressed on Friday morning during a high-level security meeting at the Ministry of the Interior, presided over by Minister Bruno Retailleau and including key figures from the Paris police headquarters.GFFN | George Boxall
