Paris Saint-Germain are facing growing uncertainty over their goalkeeping situation, with Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future increasingly uncertain.

Though the 25-year-old is under contract until 2026, his inconsistent form and costly errors have sparked concerns. As a result, the club is exploring potential alternatives.

While a goalkeeper signing in January appears unlikely, PSG may look to strengthen the position in the summer transfer window with a more reliable option.

Moreover, the capital club could be looking at an Italian goalkeeper who fits what manager Luis Enrique demands from the position if the Parisians decide to move on from Donnarumma.

According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Fichajes), the Spanish coach targets Atalanta’s young goalkeeper, Marco Carnesecchi, as a potential reinforcement for the key position.

Carnesecchi has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Italian football. His composure, quick reflexes, and leadership from the back have elevated his market value to an estimated €50 million.

PSG are reportedly seriously considering a move for the young goalkeeper, but they face stiff competition for the player. Moreover, the same outlet notes that Arsenal are after him.

Corriere reports that Mikel Arteta’s team is the “most interested” in securing Carnesecchi’s services. The goalkeeper is managed by World Soccer Agency, which also represents Riccardo Calafiori, who joined Arsenal from Bologna in the summer.

The newspaper adds that the Premier League club enjoys “excellent relations” with the stopper’s agent, potentially giving them an edge in the transfer race.
